Privacy Policy
This policy explains how the operators of sparqle.com.au (“we”, “us”) collect, use and look after your personal information. We’re a small local business on the Northern Beaches, and we keep it simple: we only collect what we need, we never sell it, and you can ask us to see or delete it at any time.
What we collect
If you sign up as a washer: your name, email, mobile number, age, gender, the suburbs you can work in, when you’re usually free, how you’d get to jobs, your car washing experience, your ABN if you have one, how you heard about us and anything else you choose to tell us.
If you’re under 18, we also collect your parent or guardian’s name, mobile and email. We email them a copy of your answers so they can approve or decline, and we keep a record of their decision.
If you join the customer waitlist: your name, email, mobile number (optional), suburb, car size, the type of wash you’re interested in, how often, and how you heard about us.
If you book a wash: your name, email, mobile, address, car make, model and size, the wash you choose, your preferred date and time, any notes for your washer, whether we can use photos of your car, and when you agreed to our Customer terms. Payment card details are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store them.
When you contact us: whatever you include in your message.
We don’t ask for payment details on this website, and we don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we collect it
- To review washer applications, contact you, and match you with jobs near you.
- To tell waitlist customers when we start washing in their area.
- To decide which suburbs to launch in, and to see which of our flyers and posts are working.
- To meet our legal obligations.
About gender: it’s optional to share (choose “Prefer not to say”). We use it to understand who’s applying and, later, to respect any customer preferences. It is never used to decide whether you’re accepted, which jobs you get or what you’re paid.
Washers under 18
Washers aged 15 to 17 need a parent or guardian’s approval. When an under-18 signs up, we email their parent or guardian a copy of the answers and a link to approve or decline. We may also call them to confirm before any work, and we never publish the name, photo, school or street of anyone under 18. If a parent declines, we delete the application.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell or rent your information. We only share it with:
- Our own Google account. Form entries go straight to our own Google account, where they’re kept in a private spreadsheet and our email inbox. No other form service or database receives them. Google, which provides our account, may store data outside Australia, including in the United States.
- Our website host. The website itself is hosted by GitHub Pages and loads fonts from Google Fonts. It doesn’t store your form details.
- Providers we use once we’re operating, such as identity-check, insurance or payment providers, and only what they need.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Washer applications: for up to 2 years after your last contact with us, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Waitlist entries: until 12 months after we launch in your area, or until you ask us to remove you.
- Signed washer agreements and parent consent records: 5 years, because business record laws require us to keep them.
- Bookings, signed washer agreements and parent consent records: 5 years, because tax and business record laws require us to keep them.
Records are deleted automatically when these periods end. We keep your information in a password-protected account with two-step sign-in, and only the people who need it can access it.
Emails from us
We’ll only email or text you about your application, your waitlist spot or our launch in your area. Every message tells you how to opt out, and you can also just reply “stop”.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold about you. Email enquire@sparqle.com.au and we’ll respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first at enquire@sparqle.com.au so we can fix it. If you’re still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page if anything changes, and show the new date at the top.
